Kaiya was so excited to put flowers on graves!! She loved to ask who the relatives in the graves were. It was also great to be able to talk about why there were American Flags on some of the graves, about the men/women who died fighting for our freedoms. Memorial Day is probably one of my favorite holidays, I enjoy being able to remember my ancestors, but also the many heros our country has had who gave their lives for my freedoms, and Kaiya's. It was so nice to have examples in her life of people who have fought for our freedoms, and to be able to say, the people we honor on Memorial day fought like them, only they didn't get to come home to their families. When I was a child, the field behind Kaiya covered in flowers was covered in white crosses and flags on Memoria Day. I always remembering being in awe of how many flags there were. I wish she could have seen the sight.
