Eggs, Eggs, and more EGGS!!

We had quite the eventful Easter weekend. Saturday morning, we attended my parents ward easter egg hunt. It ended on a sad note.
They had hidden a "SPECIAL EGG" for the kids to find. Kaiya has this eye for finding hidden things. We get a kids magazine that has those black and white hidden pictures, and she can find anything! It is crazy! Well, the hunt starts, and Kaiya goes straight for the "SPECIAL EGG," sticks it in her basket, and goes on collecting eggs like mad!! The hunt is over, and I tell her to find that egg to turn in for her special prize. She dumps out all the eggs in her bucket, the special big red egg is gone!! The tears break out, here comes the tantrum, followed by the hyperventation. The special egg she so fabulously found is gone. One of those moments in life where you really, really, really want to make it right for your kid because they so deserve it! However, you know that life isn't always fair, and since we don't always get what we deserve, you know this is a moment for a life lesson. She was inconsolable, so we leave. All the way home, I hear "I want my BIG EGG!" We arrive home, and she tells me she is going to her room. Where she sat for the next 45 minutes!! Finally, she came out, and said she was sad. So, as mom, I gave her the you did such a good job finding that egg, and you did deserve it. But sometimes, things don't always work out in life, and I know you are sad that you lost that egg. I am sorry!! WOW!! It hurt to have her hurt so much for something that she so fairly deserved! But, it was a wonderful teaching moments for the disappointments in life.

Easter came, and the bunny left a fabulous basket full of fun. Not to mention a few eggs hidden out in our backyard! Kaiya, decided to help herself to her basket without waking me up first! So, next year, I will hvae to have the Easter Bunny fill her basket somewhere other than on the path between my room and hers!

Between conference sessions, we went to Grammy and Granddad's house for an egg hunt and Easter Lunch.

Oh, poor Kaiya, but good job handling it Mom! It is hard to see them hurt and not overcompensate. It looks like she had plenty of fun the rest of the weekend though!

I can't believe how many Easter egg hunts she got to participate in! That's awesome! I hope some of the yummy treats help tame the disappointment of the special egg that got away.
