Kaiya seems to request four things with our yearly trip to my parents ranch. First, "can we go swim where you jump in and float down," "fish," "see the water shoot up," and "ride a horse." We hit them all every year, and this year we failed at one . . . the "water shoot up" a.k.a. Old Faithful Geyser. I attempted, with a 6 a.m. wake up to try to spot animals on the drive into the park . . . and she was like a rock . . . no sign of anything except sleep.
