Goals and FRESH STARTS!!

Okay, I have decided to PUBLICLY announce my GOAL in an effort to MAKE MYSELF KEEP IT!! Here goes!! I have decided that I want to lose 20 pounds by Christmas! So, I have relatively 2 months to get it done. That gives me a goal of losing one to two pounds per week!! Which is reasonable!

I was going to put one of those little tickers on here to help track me! However, I discovered that they all required you to input your CURRENT WEIGHT and GOAL WEIGHT! I just wanted a 0 - 20 lbs. If you think I am announcing my NASTY NUMBER to you, you are wrong!!

How am I going to do it! I have a plan of attack! See . . . that is good! Most times I have just said, "I need to lose weight!" and that is as far as it goes as my waist line increases! I am at the point where I refuse to be any bigger! So, wish my luck on my endeavor to get the first 20 lbs off by CHRISTMAS! I am glad I picked the holidays to start!

My plan of attack:

1 - Rid house of all OREOS - DONE!!
2 - Keep a FOOD JOURNAL watch your calorie intake- been doing!
3 - Exercises - started on MONDAY! I have gone three times this week!
4 - REMEMBER MY GOAL!! Not just lose weight, but BE HEALTHIER!!

A few of my observations in my four days of changing my lifestyle!

No OREOS - I have a VERY low DESIRE to EAT if there aren't OREOS in the house! OREOS - have led to my current WEIGHT PROBLEM!! I have a really hard time finding something to eat if oreos aren't an option!

FOOD JOURNAL - I have noticed, my desire to eat is even lessened by the fact that I will have to stare at it for the remainder of the day!! Yep! It is a GREAT DETERRENT for MUNCHING MINDLESSLY! Which, MUNCHING MINDLESSLY is also a BIG FACTOR to my CURRENT WEIGHT!! So, I have found I munch less and my munching today was a total of . . . READY??

10 OLIVES!!

Far better than 4 or 5 OREOS!! Yes, I am feeling PRETTY GOOD!

FINALLY - - EXERCISE!! I enjoyed exercise much more when I could actually RUN! Prior to my 5 year vacation from exercise, I would go RUNNING NIGHTLY!! I loved to run especially in Hawaii. I would start at my dorm or house, run to the end of Laie Point, back down to the temple, and up around the big circle, approximately 4 -5 miles! Yeah me! Now, 5 years after no exercise, I was able to run . . . 3/4 of a MILE!! NOT so YEAH for ME!! Isn't that depressing! So, I will be working on that! That was on the street, I am even worse on a tread mill! Probably because I can't say, "Just run to that corner" on a treadmill. How far I have run is right there and i get discouraged!!

Weight lifting I LOVE! I miss it! Not to increase muscles but to tone!! CRUNCHES - - need them, love them!!

So, here is to my WEIGHT LOSS - GET HEALTHY GOAL!! WISH ME LUCK! And, if anyone has and FABULOUS TIPS, SHARE THEM!!! Especially, LOW CAL - YUMMY MEALS and SNACKS!!! Also, ask how I am doing once in a WHILE - - help keep me on TRACK!!!

Great goal! If anything, just the goal of wanting to be healthier is worth it.
My whole family has turned into a bunch of running fools these days. I'm just not a runner but I love to walk & walk & walk. A good recommendation is having a work out/running/walking partner; if someone else is relying on meeting you at a certain time or place it puts a little more responsibility on your conscious. Also, I have been working out with an excercise ball & LOVE IT. The trick to this is that I got a dvd to follow rather than aimlessly trying to push myself with skills that I lack. Since I started following the chick onscreen I am finally starting to tone up!!

I've discovered that now that I'm home all day SNACKING is so much harder to avoid. I make my own trail mix to snack on (almonds, peanuts, sunflower seeds, raisins, m&m's) cause it's a good source of protien & a little more filling than empty carbs :) GOOD LUCK!!

I am so proud of you! :) Some advice:

When you run: Think of Jim Cunningham chasing after you with a knife.

When you eat: Low Carbs-cut out breads and eat lots of protein. Drink plenty of water.

When you get snacky: Stick a piece of gum in your mouth or drink water.

Eat ONE good meal a day. Eat light the other two.

I highly recommend herbalife. Remember that drink/shake mix I brought when I came to visit? It's the best, I will be a lifer on it!

I love you girl. I am so happy for motivation to do this! You're beautiful either way, but I can't wait to see the results. You should post a before and after picture!
