My faith in people has been restored this afternoon. In what was obviously a MAJOR BRAIN DEAD moment of mine, I gained trust in the general population of the human race!! The story . . .
Kaiya and I went to Wal-mart to pick up a few things. I am going to quit sugars and white flour, all things must be whole wheat and sugar less. So, I went to the store to pick up a few things to get me through the week. We leave, arrive home, I begin to cook lunch. The phone rings, it is Prasan calling and he says, "You left your purse at walmart." I was caught off guard because I always have my purse on my arm, I always put it in the car first when loading up the car, and I never let it out of my sight, unless Prasan is with me and I always remind him to keep an eye on it. I am EXTREMELY PARANOID about my PURSE and very protective of it!! So, off I go to collect my purse from the costumer service desk where the lady is going to leave it.
I wait for MUCH LONGER THAN NECESSARY once I let them know I was there to pick up my purse, as in 15 minutes after telling them I was there. So long, that the kind woman who turned it in approached me. I thanked her relentlessly! I think she was in a RUSH to get away from the FORGETFUL over ZEALOUS thankful lady I was at the time!!
Finally, they get my purse. Kaiya and I walk to the car. We get in and I start going through it right then. I was expecting at least the cash I was carrying to be gone and probably credit cards . . . surely someone probably saw it before this nice lady did and took what they could leaving the remnants to be turned in. However, I was SHOCKINGLY surprised . . . everything was there . . . right down to the last dirty penny in my coin pocket!
So, to all who say society is a lost cause, there are still GOOD CITIZENS out there! I am so THANKFUL for the kindness of a stranger looking out for someone she didn't know! THANK YOU THANK YOU!!
Now I am going to go try to relax from that adrenaline rush, eat some whole wheat spaghetti, and maybe sneak in a short cat nap.
