Listened to the General Relief Society broadcast tonight, and I was delighted and tickled pink by the thoughts shared by President Thomas Monson. It was right along the lines of all the self reflection and thought I have been having lately!
I loved the story he shared of the wife and husband, the wife criticizing her neighbors inability to get the laundry clean. Finally, the husband cleaned the windows one morning, and the wife commented on how the neighbor had finally learned to clean laundry. To her suprise, he husband explained he had cleaned the windows.
Judge NOT according to the appearance!! He focused on how we view eaach other. I loved the following as he stated it:
"Are we looking thru a window that needs cleaning!?"
A few of the highlights to me would be the following:
- No one is perfect. Despite our own imperfections we point out others imperfections. We judge their actions or inactions. We do not know their hearts, intentions, or circumstances.
- We are UNIQUE!! Difference are endless, do these sweet differences tempt us to judge others?
- Charity never faileth.
- We need to be sympathetic, compassionate, and merciful to others always, during times of distress and times of personal weaknesses.
I completely enjoyed President Monson's thoughts on a topic that has been standing out so strongly in my mind as of late! He as always added his humor, and his striking examples to drive home his point! I continue my quest to have charity towards other, and I think at time I even need to show it a little more to myself!!!
