BYU Hawaii Basketball Game Report

My sports reporting skills just aren't up to par, but let me just say IT WAS QUITE THE NIGHT!! We became a little undecided last night about going . . . so, we were going to play it by ear. Then, my parents invited us to ride with them and grab a bite before hand. However, Prasan had already made plans to stay late to work. Kaiya and I headed off without him.

Let me just say, it was quite the area of town . . . and there was only one place that looked "okay" to eat. When we walked in, the place was PACKED and we were the only lighter skinned people there! Good thing the gentleman taking our order didn't speak English! Yikes! The food was good, but not lets head back anytime soon fantastic. But, it was good for the night!!

We got to catch the END of the LADY SEASIDERS basketball game! They won!! It was a bit of a nail biter! I do find it is hard to get into the game when you haven't been there the entire time!!

The men got out there and played hard! We led by 10 most of the first half. After the half, We took a couple NOT GREAT CALLS from the refs, that got a few of the fans a little upset! Specifically when Alves was ejected from the game . . . but, we have decided it proved to our advantage! He is a fantastic player . . . however, until then GCU was really ganging up on him on the defense! As soon as he was out of the game, the rest of the players really stepped up and GCU seemed to have no idea what to do! Guess the game plan was to stick to BYUH #15 Alves and that will cripple them! Sorry . . . the bad calls threw the Seasiders off for a moment, but they shook off the bad judgement and really showed us what they are able to do on the court!! It was exciting!! Right after #15 Alves got ejected for NOTHING he did, GCU tightened the game up to a close two point game! GCU led for a moment! But, we came back and stomped all over them!!

I have to say the entire BYU Hawaii Men's basketball team is FABULOUS!! No one players seems to outshine any other . . . yes, #15 can hit some mean three point shots and has great rebound abilities, but many of the other players have strengths to fill in when he was out!! The really have some STRONG PLAYERS!! I mean talent!!!

The game ended 86 to 71 BYU Hawaii!! We were elated!! I do think we scared away a few older couples before the came was over from all our screaming!! By we, I mean my mom and I! My mom thinks one gentleman had his hearing aid turned off! We took up an okay section of the bleachers and got ourselves chanting a few times! We wish the refs would have opened their eyes a little more . . . but alas, we prevailed!!! And, GCU can't sit and whine over bad calls because they got a way with a lot of stuff!!!
We dressed in our red . . . Kaiya got a nummy powder donut dessert at half time! Here is Kaiya with her RED and Grammy! (Ginger, yes I have a picture of me too . . . but, I hate taking pictures alone . . . Kaiya wouldn't stand next to me and well, it is less than FLATTERING facial expression! So, no pictures of me lady!! One day!!)

Thank you Seasiders for TWO incredible nights of Basketball this year!!!
