Unplanned Visits

Do things ever occur just as you have your day planned and in a timing so well that it throws off all previous plans for the day?? Well, we have had a few such days this week!!!

First, I BROKE MY DIET A LOT!! I decided to ingest some delicious Cheetos at my parents house yesterday. I have one of those silly retainer that you get permanently cemented to the back of your teeth post braces! I have had mine for 17 years . . . yep! Exciting! Well, one of my huge pet peeves is JUNK stuck between it and my teeth! I hate my tongue feeling food remenants . . . so, with no floss readily available . . . OKAY, you got me, floss was available . . . I just didn't want to go find it . . . I decided to push the cheetoh partical out with my finger nail! I suddenly hear a POP!! And not a good pop . . . but not the worst pop one could have when dealing with your teeth! Yep, I popped my retainer totally out of the cement holding it to the back of my teeth!

What do you do?? None other than make an UNPLANNED and UNWANTED TRIP to the DENTAL CARE PROFESSIONALS!!! My orthodontist is in Utah (if he is still practicing!), not really a "convenient person to see in a time like this! Instead I call our Dentist . . . who happens tobe a buddy from H.S. He tells me to come on down . . .

I don't DREAD dentist, it just isn't one of those things on the top of my list! Iff I need to schedule a cleaning and check up, but I also need to clean the toilet . . . well, I clean the toilet first!! I know, I know! The stupid thing is, I have NIGHTMARES about TEETH FALLING out and my DENTIST not responding to my calls because I ditched him for a cleanining/check up! I have even had a nightmare where the TEETH with the cement holding my RETAINER IN both FALL OUT and I can't get ahold of him!! I don't want to lose my teeth, but I put off dental visits!!

So, off I go to the dentist . . . he squeezes me in, I sit in his chair with his NEWLY IMPROVED CEILING MOUNTED TELEVISIONS!! And, the NERVOUS ME KICKS IN . . . I start making JOKES!! T.V. on mute, first joke, "ARE YOU TRYING TO MAKE YOUR PATIENCES LEARN TO LIP READ?!?!?!" Then, he is trying to figure out which way my metal peice fits in best, removes it for a moment and I say, "You are making me nervous!" Not really nervous, if he can do dental work anything like he did scripture chases in seminary, I am in GOOD HANDS!!!

Finally, I AM WHOLE AGAIN!! Really, teeth with no metal wire attached to them feel awefully weird!! REALLY REALLY WEIRD!!! I have been conditioned to my metal wire!!! I left the office and said to myself, "I FEEL LIKE A WHOLE WOMAN AGAIN!" Yep, don't know how that came in to play but hey!

No worries, while cornered in the office, I scheduled my next cleaning and examination!! So, my metal wire interrupted my days of HAIR BO HOLDER MAKING SHOPPING SUPPLIES with my mom . . . oh well!!

Thursday morning, I am woken about 12:15 a.m. by a child yelling, "MOM!" If I do not respond the first time, it goes to "MAAAAAAMAAAAAAA!! MMMMMOOOOOOMMMMM!!!" You get the picture! Up I got to make a quick check on her that turns into a 6 hour ordeal of a sick child with a fever, sore throat, and funny feeling tummy!! Poor kid has never been that sick in her life . . . THANK GOODNESS FOR A RELATIVELY VERY HEALTHY CHILD!! So, she was struggling. I finally got her to lay in bed and try to sleep about 6:13 a.m. and I fell asleep even with the constant punches and kicks from my new pint sized bed mate!!

So, my next NOT FAVORITE PLACE TO VISIT happened on FRIDAY - - the DOCTOR!! And to be honest, since being tested for ALLERGIES, the doctor is not KAIYA's favorite place either!! She wouldn't cooperate . . . was crying, and they sent it off with a prescription for strep throat! I am an ANTI ANTIBIOTIC unless absolutely necessary and without a culture and proof we were waiting it out a few days! I am glad I didn't fill it and administer it because she came around on Saturday to her usually SILLY self!! However, she does have a remenant cough and runny nose, so we were lying low in hopes to get over it completely for Monday!!

Unfortunately, I am off to the dentist probably again tomorrow . . . yep! I bit into an APPLE on FRIDAY EVENING and guess what decided didn't like my teeth?? My retainer! So, back to the dentist! I am probably going to have to make jokes about needing better cement!! I told him on the way out that it better last longer than 6 months and this better not be set up to get me in every six months!! Aah!

Needless to say after this week, I hope I do not have to see the dentist or doctor again until my next regularly scheduled exams!! Nothing against them . . . just really, I like to live in the healthy world where I nor my family has to visit the doctor!!
