Curry Sundays - - LOVE 'EM

We have a tradition at our house that started way back when we were dating at BYU-Hawaii. The tradition started because our house became unofficially called "The Sri Lankan House." Prasan and I dating seemed to call over all the Sri Lankan boys who in the process started to date my house mates or become really good friends. Sunday became a day to get together and ENJOY the Goods of SRI LANKAN FOOD! The boys would COOK, the girls would learn and help. Then, we would enjoy a wonderful FEAST and GREAT COMPANY! From this tradition, we became "The Sri Lankan Gang." A group of wonderful friends who treat each other as family. We are always in each others business, always concerned, and most importantly love each other for just who they are, good and bad!!

The tradition has continued at our house! Prasan volunteered to cook on Sundays and I have requested it always be SRI LANKAN FOOD (with a few minor adjustments such as no maldive fish in food)!! I have to blame all 60 pounds I have gained since marriage on SRI LANKAN FOOD because I don't know when to STOP!! It is delicious!! So, here is a picture of yesterdays dinner . . . and can I say it was DELIGHTFULLY GOOD!! If you love spicy food and would like to join us let us know! We are always open for visitors seeking a cultural food experience!!

And a big thank you to my husband for the WONDERFUL DINNERS made on CURRY SUNDAYS!!! (I do have to add, I have learned to cook a few little things! But, my specialty is SEENI SAMBOL!!)

In case you are not sure where SRI LANKA is, here is a map! It is the little tear drop shape island off the coast of India! Hope this helps with some geography!!

I miss my curry Sunday's at your house! Wes family makes chicken and beef curry but I have to admit that I like yours better, I also enjoy eating with my hands!!!! (Maybe I will have to buck up and try to make it myself now...)

Can I just say I have the exact same problem about weight gain and ethnic food from his side of the family? Paul's mom just visited and made the BEST food ever. I realized that after I moved away from Hawaii (from her good cooking) was when I lost like 25 lbs. Then they came this last week and I gained 5 lbs. Dang! If only I could exercise moderation in all delicious things!
